About Devin's Teaching Method
Chinese people who are studying English are often skilled when it comes to the reading and writing aspects of the language, however when it comes to speaking and listening their skills are usually not quite as good.
This comes from the fact that in standard English learning the focus is placed on reciting new words, memorizing grammar rules, and repeating the learned material.
The truth however is that language is much better learned through natural communication. Studies show that the fastest way to language fluency is through speaking activities that simulate the real world and also challenge the speaker to use their language skills in creative ways.
This is the philosophy that Devin's English is built upon. The goal is for each lesson to engage the student with fun, highly interactive activities that encourage students to use the language in casual natural ways.
Time is not wasted each class on memorizing new words or grammar structures, but instead the focus is on conversing, building speaking and listening skills and building a strong language fluency!
